Tibetan Buddha Figure Vajrapani 16 cm made from brass

Vajrapani (Tib. Chanta Dorje) is regardes as a manifestation of Akshobhyas the eldest of the Vajra-family.

Vajrapani is often depicted with Avalokiteshvara and Manjushri representing Buddha´s power of compassion (Vajrapani), the great compassion (Avalokiteshvara) and the great wisdom (Manjushri).

Vajrapani´s wrathfulness, snake ornament and his pose as warrior all serve to convey the force and vitality of enlightened energy as it combats ignorance, greed, fear and other delusions.

In the wrathful aspect he stands on a sun disc and wields a vajra in his right hand and his left hand displaying threatening vitarka mudra. His body seems to be massive and in pose of warrior. His colour is dark blue and he wears tiger skin around his waist and a snake around his neck. He has a wide and wild roaring mouth rimmed with lacquered red lips. His eyebrows are like the flame and moustache and beared being curled.

He usually depicted in two arms aspect but can be seen in four arms aspect too.
