Avalokiteshvara Chenrezi 22 cm partly fire-gilded

Chenrezig is the Tibetan form of the Avalokiteshvara, a manifestation of the Amitabhas and its many appearances. He is "the Lord who looks down into compassion," embodying active mercy. He is a savior and protector in dangers. His mantra is "OM MANI PADME HUM". He is the protector of Tibet. Representations as two-armed (rare), four-armed and thousand-armed (with eleven heads and one eye in each palm). The four-armed Avalokiteshvara is called the Sadaksari-Lokeshvara or Kharcheri. He is of white color, in one hand he holds an Akshamala (prayer chain) in another one a fully bloosomed lotus flower, the other two hands he elevates to the breast in Namaskara Mudra, the gesture of prayer, a special handhold of the multi-armed Avalokitesvaras, into the Folded hands, he holds the jewel, the sign of wisdom.
