ShriDevi Buddha Statue

Shri devi is the most terrifying glorious godness. She is consort of Yama and is regarded as a prototype of Hundu Kali, In Nepal she is called Chaskamani.

She is included along eight Dharmapalas and considered as the only goddess to defender of Mahayana Buddhism. She is armed by various gods. Hevajra gave her 2 dice to count the life of men. Brahma gave her a fan of peachock`s feathers. Kubera gave her a lion which she wears in her right ear. Nanda gave her a serpant which hangs from her left ear. Vajrabari equipped her with a hammer. Other gods gave her a white-faced mule which is covered with skin of a demon and the reins are of venomous serpents, she sits sideways on a mule. She wears all ornaments of Dharmapalas. She wears a long garland of severed heads and is clad in human skin. She has a third eye. Her right hand is raised with a trident-rod (sceptre) . In her left hand she holds a skull cup at the breast. She is backed by flames and she is also called the queen of warring weapons. She lets loose the demons of disease, therefore her name is not even mentioned. She has some attendant queens riding different animals. She always kept behind the curtain in a corner in many monastries of Tibet. She is the female guardian of the Dalai Lama and Panchem Lama.
